NARS does NOT test on animals & Coastal Scents?

Hey Dolls!

Following my "Makeup Collection & Storage video" which I uploaded last week, I have been bombarded with comments and messages about how NARS tests on animals. I was shocked considering NARS is an expensive brand and usually higher end brands usually don't test on animals (thank goodness!).

Firstly, I looked it up and found out that NARS does NOT test on animals. It says it on their website plain and simple. NARS never has and never will test on any of our animal friends. Heres the link: http://www.narscosmetics.com/customer_home.aspx

Also, did you know that Francois Nars (the creator of the makeup brand) is actually a Vegan?!
So I highly doubt he would let people test his products and put his name on a product that was tested on animals.

Next, I asked Katie (aka saywhatcuteface18 on YouTube) if NARS tested on animals. Katie worked at PETA and is a vegetarian and avid animal rights activists and she purchases NARS products. She told me personally that NARS does not test on animals.

I'm not sure where this rumor got started or why people write it to me so many times on like every video now! I'll just refer all of the "You won't buy Covergirl but you'll buy NARS?! They both test on animals" comments to this blog post :)

Now there seems to be some drama with me and Coastal Scents. Yes! I am aware that "Coastal Scents" claims NOT t0 test on animals. But they DO support animal cruelty. Again, you can watch saywhatcuteface18's video on this topic.

Coastal Scents do not test their products on animals. However, they DO support animal cruelty. They sell "mink" lashes for an extremely low price, but in reality it isn't actually "mink" that was gently brushed to get the fur. They eyelashes aren't real mink, it's dog and cat fur. The dogs and cats are brutally skinned, sometimes alive, they are stepped on and they scream and feel pain just like us.
The fact that Coastal Scents is willing to purchase and sell these cruel items is what puts me against this 'company'

  3. So you like NARS so that's why you defend them, when it's actually a very well known fact that they DO test on animals. You think someone who works for PETA will back up your rediculous claim? Why don't you go visit PetaKillsAnimals.com and read about how their "workers" were found dumping the dead bodies of dogs and cats in dumpsters behind supermarkets? You're such a deplorable hypocrite.

  4. I'd like to clear something up. I totally understand how you would think they didn't test on animals, because for an extended period of time they didn't. Recently, however, NARS was bought by the company Shiseido, who is a well known animal testing company. To people like SinnerisaSaint, you can't get angry at people for not knowing things. When you look up NARS testing on animals, there are mixed results, and so it would be hard to determine the truth

  5. Hi there! I have been chatting to NARS about the animal testing matter and they told that they do not test. However they gave me rather vague answer to my question why the company is not on PETA or BUAV lists. The NARS representative told me that those orgs have "at will" polices. Then I asked if got it right and NARS does NOT WISH to be listed on such websites. NARS told me that they have not thought about it and suggested I contacted PETA about it's polices. So I did. PETA told that they asked to NARS to sigh the No Animal Testing reassurance in 2005 and NARS has NEVER responded. Not to mention that NARS is owned by Shiseido, big animal TESTING company. So in conclusion even if NARS does not test their products, they do test the ingredients, so the answer would be YES, NARS does test on animals!
So stick to Estee Lauder, Mary Kay or Clarins!

    1. But now we have learned that all companies Estee Laude, Mary Kay, Clarins, Avon have been paying for tests on animals in order to sell their products in China

  7. thank you. I just purchased some Nars, and didn't see any cruelty free notation on box. I was going to return to nordstroms, and now, I feel better about using them. amazing how many people have no clue about animals being tortured in the name of beauty! ALSO REMIND EVERYONE NEVER TO BUY PROCTOR&Gamble! They still love to test and God knows are big enough and rich enough to use other methods. oil of olay, clairol, Iams and eukanuba. along with a zillion other products are theirs. They STARVE DOGS TO MAKE THEIR CRAPPY DOG FOOD! then try to restore them to health, by creating a "better food." PLEASE LET EVERYONE KNOW P&G is to be avoided like the plague(sheer greed and evil!)

  8. now I just read about Shiseido connection. Guess nars is a nogo. Too bad. If owner is really a vegan, maybe someone, needs to give him a heads up;UNACCEPTABLE!

  11. Mary Kay, Avon and Este Lauder all have their lines produced in China. China REQUIRES animal testing on cosmetic products so they are paying to have it done. DO NOT BUY COSMETICS PRODUCED IN CHINA

    1. Almost all cosmetic products are made in china. Only the products sold there must be tested, if it is produced there, it does not need to be tested unless they also decide to sell there.

  12. Actually. Products can be made in China that ARE cruelty free! They only require animal testing of the brand sells in China. Many Cruelty free companies manufacture their products there but don't sell there. Get your facts strait dumb ass
