10 Random Facts about me!

Hello Beautiful Ladies!

I know I neglect this blog and I feel really bad about it! The thing is, is that I am SO busy with school this year! School is a legit 10 times harder this year, so i'm finding myself struggling to keep my videos weekly, never mind this blog! Plus, i'm kinda uninspired and I don't know what to write about! But guess what?! I have a ton of ideas about what I want to write, so expect a lot more blog posts from me!

To start things off fun, I figured I would do a random fact post!

1. I was born August 4th, 1995. I only learnt how to spell August this year.

2. I got my first piercing in my ear when I was 6 months old, and my second when I was 13.

3. I am currently craving a Louis Vuitton Speedy 35; If I do exceptionally well on my final report card I will be getting one as a birthday gift/congratulatory present from my parents.

4. I used to dream about my 'Super Sweet 16' and the theme was going to be 'Hollywood'. Now all I want is an amazing dinner with my friends and family and crazy presents. And a cake made by the Cake Boss.

5. I am 1/2 Greek and 1/2 Canadian. When people ask 'what I am'... I only say Greek.

6. I'm somewhat compulsive about everything, most people think it's 'cute'.

7. I always have to carry cream with me. My cream gets passed around every class. And every guy smells like vanilla afterwards.

8. My Mom, Dad, Yiayia and Papou (Greek Grandparents) are my hero's.

9. I am a country music fanatic.

10. When I listen to music on my iPod, I imagine a music video in my head. Especially with country music.

NARS does NOT test on animals & Coastal Scents?

Hey Dolls!

Following my "Makeup Collection & Storage video" which I uploaded last week, I have been bombarded with comments and messages about how NARS tests on animals. I was shocked considering NARS is an expensive brand and usually higher end brands usually don't test on animals (thank goodness!).

Firstly, I looked it up and found out that NARS does NOT test on animals. It says it on their website plain and simple. NARS never has and never will test on any of our animal friends. Heres the link: http://www.narscosmetics.com/customer_home.aspx

Also, did you know that Francois Nars (the creator of the makeup brand) is actually a Vegan?!

So I highly doubt he would let people test his products and put his name on a product that was tested on animals.

Next, I asked Katie (aka saywhatcuteface18 on YouTube) if NARS tested on animals. Katie worked at PETA and is a vegetarian and avid animal rights activists and she purchases NARS products. She told me personally that NARS does not test on animals.

I'm not sure where this rumor got started or why people write it to me so many times on like every video now! I'll just refer all of the "You won't buy Covergirl but you'll buy NARS?! They both test on animals" comments to this blog post :)

Now there seems to be some drama with me and Coastal Scents. Yes! I am aware that "Coastal Scents" claims NOT t0 test on animals. But they DO support animal cruelty. Again, you can watch saywhatcuteface18's video on this topic.

Coastal Scents do not test their products on animals. However, they DO support animal cruelty. They sell "mink" lashes for an extremely low price, but in reality it isn't actually "mink" that was gently brushed to get the fur. They eyelashes aren't real mink, it's dog and cat fur. The dogs and cats are brutally skinned, sometimes alive, they are stepped on and they scream and feel pain just like us.

The fact that Coastal Scents is willing to purchase and sell these cruel items is what puts me against this 'company'

Ever since people at school found out about my videos, I have been so open and relaxed. It feels like I have nothing to hide anymore! I just feel like they cannot put a negative connotation on what i'm doing! I love YouTube and make up so much! Like Dr. Seuss has said, "Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind".. It's so true! I haven't changed myself, i'm just more open and fun now!

-Diet Orange Crush: I know it's totally bad for you, but it's my favorite drink at the moment!

-'Teenage Beauty' by Bobbi Brown: This is an amazing book! Super empowering and filled with amazing tips & stories!

-MAC Creme d'Nude Lipstick: I have been loving this! So creamy and pretty for fall!

-Jean Leggings 'Jeggings': I looooove this trend ATM! They are so comfy and i'm dying to get more! I got mine @ Wal Mart for like 12$. They're super cute, comfy and flattering!

HATES:

-People who try and turn YouTube into a negative thing for me!

-All the homework and tests I have!

-Going jean shopping!

-When people use the term 'gay' when they mean something is silly/stupid!

How I handled people finding out..

As many of you know, everyone at my school found out about my videos! This is going to be a blog about how I felt, how I handled it and how I kept my head held high throughout this 'scandal' in school!

So apparently I was featured on the front page of YouTube (Which is AMAZING! THANK YOU!) and one guy named 'Jason' saw it and decided to click on me. 'Jason' sent the video to 'Sam' and 'Sam' sent it to 'Harry', ect. So needless to say, the guys decided to kinda play broken telephone and send it to everyone.

So I went to school knowing that 'Harry' knew, but I only found out after being stared at by them that they knew.

The best way to describe how I felt was that my heart got ripped out, stomped on and run over by a truck a couple of times. I was so embaressed and shy about people finding out, but then I decided to change my train of thought:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with YouTube videos! It is nothing to be ashamed about! I make videos about what I am passionate about, and after much internal prompting from myself, I decided to not lower my head in the hallways but to keep my head held high.

It will be awkward when people find out, but there is NOTHING they can make fun of. They may not get why you do it, but you do and so do the people who watch you.

I'll be doing a self esteem video this weekend, so i'll be discussing that more.

I just want to really thank you all for sticking by me. It means SO much to me!

Fun Beauty Survey!

1.What time did you do your makeup today?
Around 11:30 , 12 ish! I was getting ready quickly to go to the states!

2. What's the least expensive beauty item you used?
My L'Oreal Mascara.. It's called Extra Collagen or something! It doesn't say on the bottle! It's AMAZING with my eyelashes!

3. What was the biggest problem you needed to correct?
Well I didn't like my eyeshadow, so I had to take it off with a wipe and redo it! But in terms of my face, I guess a scar above my lip! I hate it :( Any tips ?

4. Did you apply false eyelashes?
Nope! I'm hoping to buy some soon :)

5. Did you do anything while applying makeup?
I listened to 'The Hills' in the background. Oh the DRAMA.

6. Biggest makeup mishap today?
I didn't like my eyeshadow, so I had to take it all off and re-do it! Oh and I put too much mascara on my lower lashes, but it just gave me doll-looking eyes! I ended up loving it <3

7. Did you have a makeup inspiration in mind?
Neutral, but gorgeous. Something to bring out the eyes. 'The Hills' was on, so I was thinking Lauren Conrad too!

8. What's the most time-consuming part of your makeup routine?
Gel eyeliner.. I can never get it to match for some reason!

9. What's part of your routine is the most fun?
I love doing eyeshadow, but to me, mascara is SUPER fun! I love seeing the transformation in your eyes & lashes!

10. What part of your makeup makes the biggest difference in the way you look?
Eyeliner! I adore what it does to my eyes.

11. Neutral or colorful eyeshdaow?
Neutral. DEFINITELY.

12. Liquid or mineral foundation?
I haven't been wearing foundation lately! My skin is looking pretty good. But I used MAC MSF Natural!

13. Do you do your hair or makeup first?
Hair.. makeup looks better to me when my hair is done!

14. Did you pack a makeup bag to take with you for the day?
Not anything that I don't usually carry! Lipgloss, little mascara, bobby pins & oil blotting paper, ect! No powder or eyeshadow! I hate re-applying makeup!

15. When did you finish your makeup?
Around 15 to 20 minutes after I started. Usually it's shorter, but I had to take my ES off :/

They. Found. Out.

I am no longer an anonymous beauty "guru" on YouTube. Yup, some guys at my school found out about them, and before you know it, most of the guys know.

Imagine this...

I come to school on Monday and it's lunch time. I'm standing at my locker getting my money out for lunch with some of my friends, when a bunch of guys are staring at me, finally I look at them and say WHAT?!?! and one of my "closer" guy friends comes up to me and says "Are you on YouTube".

I was in shock. How did they find out. Why?!

I replied sarcastically: No, it's just my twin. Of course it's me.

Much to my surprise they handled it extremely well and with no making fun, laughing, ect, what so ever. I appreciated that.

I was thinking though. YouTube is NOTHING to be ashamed of. I love doing this and all I do is make videos. It's not that big of a deal.

So now i'm no longer a secret. People know.

And I don't care.

It all started when...

It all started on September 11th, 2008 when Allie decided to join the makeup community by uploading a horrendous Mini Sephora Haul onto her channel (it's still up, btw. But I think i'll make it private soon!). I was ecstatic when I got my first subscriber and comment, and never expected my channel to blossom into something so amazing and that I loved.
Now one year later, on September 11th, 2009 I still cannot believe that I am still doing this for one, but also, I cannot believe how many people have found me.

When I started my channel, I hardly estimated for 30 people to find me. When I hit 200 subscribers, I remember exactly where I was. I was sitting on my bed (in my old bedroom decor!) with my best friend and she announced it. Now with over 3,000 subscribers, I am in utter shock and I cannot believe it.

Subscriber count doesn't mean anything to me, but when I do think about it, and think about what 3,000 people look like, it's crazy to me. Imagine fitting over 3, 000 people in your house!

What I want to tell you guys is that even though I may be growing, not only in my age but also on YouTube, I always want to remain the same Allie to everybody. I would never want you guys to see me as stuck up, or as rude, or as me thinking i'm better than you.

And i'm telling you now. If I ever become like that, where I think i'm all that and a bag of chips, PLEASE tell me. I will not be offended!

I want you guys to know that I appreciate each and every one of you!

An Explanation on why there's NO videos!

Believe me guys, I want to upload you a video.

I have filmed and have 3 videos ready to upload that are just sitting on my desktop.

But what's stopping me? YouTube.

It just refuses to let me upload ANYTHING.

I can't do a quick capture, nor upload a video.

It's really annoying, since I want to upload some of them! Basically what happens, is that it goes normal, I write in the info, choose my video, click UPLOAD VIDEO and then it loads for like 10 minutes, and goes to that fail page we all know (and love. Cue sarcasm).

What I think is happening, is that when YouTube updated their website with the new search engine and what have you, they didn't re-enable my account. The day the update took place, I did a BlogTV show, and uploaded a quick capture fine. Later that night, after the update, it wouldn't let me upload one thing. So i'm thinking that maybe my account wasn't re-enabled or updated to the new standards. I didn't change anything about my videos, I do the exact same thing, so idk. Hopefully this works soon, I feel really bad!

So as many of you know, I'm in Punta Cana! I got here Friday and it's been really fun. It is SO hot and the beaches are breathtaking! I did some damage in the airport, but not much. The MAC was horrible! They had nothing that I wanted. What a disappointment! The resorts are super huge, so it's not crowded! I mean we have to take this golf cart things just to get to the beach it's so far! We usually walk to the beach in the morning, to work off the amazing breakfast, and then the rest of the day, we take the golf carts. They're super fun and everyone here is so nice. It really makes me sad that they work SO hard, for SO little!

On another note, I am like this close <---> to 2,000 subscribers which still blows my mind! I can't believe that people actually want to watch me! It's weird, exciting and such a cool thing. I am definitely going to be having a contest this fall, so look out for that!

I think i've written enough for now, dolls. But if this whole video thing doesn't get fixed soon, I'll find a way to upload some videos for you!

I've found it, my HG Moisturizer!

My mom went to Shoppers today to pick up some last minute things for our holiday tomorrow(I'm leaving in less than 24 hours!) and she recieved two samples of what I call my new, HG, miracle cream.

From the moment I opened the package, and smelt this mild honey and verrrrry mild sweet smell I was instantly intriqued. I took about a dime size amount, and applied it all over my face, and right away, I fell in love.

The moisturizer also gives your skin an amazing finish (at least on my skin!). It feels amazing, and it's matte after just 1-3 minutes!

It's a little pricey at $40.00 per jar, but I don't mind spending money on something that will improve my skin in the future. This moisturizer is simply amazing. Only a dollop of cream, probably the size (or less) of a dime and applied to my skin. My skin started feeling moisturized, and then so refreshed and calm. It felt so moisturized and smooth, even my mom was very impressed, and insisted I give her the second sample pack.

It's hard to explain the feeling this cream gives my face. It makes is feel so good, and so quenched and then gives this soft, cooling feeling, but it doesn't feel minty. If any of you have used MAC's "Fix +" it feels like that, but much less.

The point of this cream is too:

REPLENISH skin, to restore the damaged cutaneous barrier

Then, SOOTHE it,

Finally, REPAIR to heal and regenerate

It really does do that.

All I can say, is that if I can't find this in duty free tomorrow, I'll be at Shoppers the day I get back!

It's officially official. Makeup has taken over my life (but I kinda like that?)

So it is now August 1st:

Which means my birthday is in 3 days! (August 4th) .. Are you guys sick of me saying that yet?!

Which means i'm finally leaving on vacation in 13 days.

Which means it is only 3 days and I can go and indulge in all the makeup I was planning on buying since June.

But the thing is, I don't want to spend all my money, so I can do a haul on the plane.

What's Going On, Why The Lack of Videos & Random Things

Hey Dolls!

Long time, no write. It's been FOREVER and I really do apologize but SO much has been happening to me and my family.

Some of you know that this June and part of July was extremely hard for me. I won't say I had a full fledged depression, but I was for sure pretty sad and upset for most of the two months. I won't get too much into it, but I am 100% better now. Basically I was just overwhelmed by everything happening in my life, and somethings that have changed for me and my family. That's part of the reason why there was such a lack of videos for the month of June & July. I would get good ideas for videos, try and film and get discouraged so I just forgot about it. Instead I resorted to spending most of my savings on MAC too make me feel better, hence the big hauls. I am a huge believer in retail therapy, so that's what I did. Let's just say that June & July were extremely emotional months for me.. Between MJ dying and personal things, I was a wreck to put it lightly. Anyways, saving is now very popular with me, and enforced by my Mama.

So lack of videos, I feel terrible about this. I had a plan to do a video every other day. As you can tell that didn't happen. I didn't want to film in my state during June so I just did hauls. I get messages nearly everyday asking when my next video will be up, and I'm getting back into the swing of things. I have a great list of videos too do and I think everyone will be very happy with it. If you have any requests send them my way!!

On a lighter note, my birthday is in 7 (or 8) days depending on how you look at it and I am SO excited! I love birthdays, especially mine so I can't wait. I already know what I am getting from my parents ( a Coach Poppy bag) and maybe some money (but I don't feel like they need to give me any). So basically the day will be me waking up, probably having breakfast, opening gifts, getting ready, family coming over, pizza buffet (did I mention pizza is my all time favorite food, and that's all I want to eat on my bday!!?) and opening my family's gifts, which will most probably be money, because apparently no one knows what to buy a teenager.. And guess where that is going?! MAC, of course! So then i'll probably go to MAC with some of my friends. I am only going to get a couple of things and spend the rest in the airport so I can do a haul on the plane, and post it @ the hotel!!

Anyways, I found this oddly therapeutic and hopefully everyone got to know me a little more, and a little more about me!

This blush is a gorgeous peachy-pinky sheen similar to NARS "Orgasm". I love this blush and the color, however it just doesn't work or sit well on my skin. I have TRIED to make this work, max 4x. There is no dent in it at all and is currently in pristine conditions. It comes in it's original boxing, with the adorable brush! It's a beautiful blush for the summer time, and I wish it worked on me! Enjoy!

2) Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner Retail Price (CDN $): $24.00 My Price: $14.00


This is an amazingly beautiful product, but once again it doesn't work on my eye lid. I love the staying powder. There is an evident dent, however it has been hardly use. I would say there is a good 95% left to the product. I use a brush with this product, so it is sanitary. It goes on as a gorgeous pinkish-gold sheen and is great for these summer months! I have used it MAX 4x. If you can make this work, kudos to you!

This is an adorable palette-- and an impulse buy! I've always loved Smurfs and when I saw this palette in Sephora I flipped. Smurfs + Makeup!! But I never use this, and it's just sitting there. Trust me, the packaging is my favourite and the colors are super pigmented! Whoever buys this, you'll fall in love!

4) PENDING Too Faced Eyeshadow Duo in "Mommy Dearest" (discontinued.) Retail Price: 17.00 My Price: 3.50


This was one of the first eyeshadows that I ever bought. However, I bought it at TJ Maxx, for around $6.00 and I have hardly ever used it. The purple side is a gorgeous purple with blue duo-chromes (Loves it!!) and the white side is a perfect highlight! And @ $3.00, what a steal!

5) Hard Candy "Eye Candy" in "Gum Drop" My Price: $3.50This color is described as a "pretty periwinkle" and that it is! It's a pretty blue that I would use as a pop of color on your upper or lower lashline! And the packaging is an adorable slide up and down method! It's a great eyeshadow!

6) Fushion "Glow Fusion" Bronzer I paid: 8.00 My Price: $7.00 I looove this bronzer, but sadly it isn't right for me. It doesn't blend right with my skin tone and doesn't suit me! I feature it in my U.S. haul, so you could take a look at it if you want. I think this would be perfect for people a little darker than me! It's discontinued, and you can't get it in stores, and what's great about this bronzer, is that it will customize to your skin tone! PS: I have the box.

7) PENDING. Kimora Lee Simmons Powder in "Pink Champagne" My Price: $3.50

This is a beautiful highlight powder, and perfect for when you're all tanned and bronzed. It doesn't have big chunks of glitter at all, its very fine glimmer (shimmer & it gives you a glow!)! I got it at TJ Maxx, that's why the price is so low! There is no dent what-s0-ever and I have hardly used this.
8) NYX Blush in "Natural" My Price: $2.00

This shade is very similar to MAC's "Well Dressed" blush in the pink color. I love this blush, but it hardly gets ANY use. I've used this MAX 3x.

Comes with the pump. An additional $5.00 value.

It's simple really, the foundation is great, the lady just didn't match me correctly. I have used this MAX 5x, and there is a good 85-90% left.

I've only swatched this item, and I hve never used it. I can't get it to show up on me, and it seems pointless just to keep it for the sake of having it! I know www.youtube.com/xsunshiine wants it! I love her!

This is a really pretty lip color, however I just can't wear it. It doesn't look good on me, and although I love the color, I can't make it work. It's a reeeeally pretty pink lip color. Please note that the MAC lettering has work off a little bit, but it is guaranteed authentic!

12) GOSH Effect Powder in "Meringue" Retail Price: $13.5o My Price: $7.00

Once again, I love this color but I never use it and it seems pointless to keep it just to have it. It's an amazing highlight color and lid color, perfect for everyday use! If you're dying to get your hands on some GOSH, this seems like a good time! You won't be disapointed. I have NEVER used this on my eyes, I have only swatched it MAX 3x.

13) Marcelle Highlight Powder (Opus Face Powder) Retail Price: $14.00 My Price: $7.00

This is a really nice highlight powder, and Marcelle is a Canadian brand and not avaliable in the USA to my knowledge. It is a really pretty (MSF Dupe) peachy-ish based powder with gold and silver veining. I never use this nor have I ever, so I decided to sell this. Whoever buys this, you'll love it!

14) L'Oreal HiP Cream Shadow Paint in "807 Secretive" Retail Price: $12.00 My Price: $4.00

I'll be honest, I don't really like this paint. If you like a light sparkle all over your lid, you'll love this!

Ins & Outs #3

I feel so terrible about how often I neglect this blog! I don't mean too, but between the hectic summer and my YouTube channel, I don't think to come on here and write about makeup or what have you. So my summer goal is 1 post every 2 days :)

Let's kick off this goal with my third post of In's and Outs!

Ins:

- Summer! Although I'm used to going to Greece every summer, circumstances didn't let us this year! Someone commited arson against one of my father's bars (July 26th, 2008), and it's re-built and opened now! My mom doesn't want to leave, because she wants to help. So I'm stuck, in boring, rainy Canada. Oh well, we're going next year for sure!

- My New Vanity! I'll let you in on a little secret, I don't even label this as a real legit "vanity". You know those wood tv tables that we all have lying around our houses somehow or another? Besides my dresser is the perfect space for two of those little tables. I put them together, got a chair and put my lip products, MacBook and some other things on there, just until I find a vanity that takes my breath away!

-Curtains! Before all I had were these little blinds that let in A LOT of light! I got new curtains from Target, and now I sleep so late! My room is so dark and relaxing!

-Eyebrows! I never used to tame these beasts, but one pair of MAC tweezers, brow gel and a matte light brown eyeshadow, and i've turned over a new leaf. I'm addicted to keeping them beautiful and prestigious. They frame your face, and I have to say, i'm proud of my work, haha.

-MAC 227 Brush! This brush is the summer brush! It's perfect for just a light dusting of color all over your lid! It's fast and one tap on the eyeshadow, and you're good to go :)

Outs:

-Mosquitoes. I hate these things. They seem to attack me.

-Diets. Diets suck in general, right?

-The Weather. I live in Canada, and the weather is so rainy! It's gorgeous one day, then horrible the next. I hate Canadian summers.

So I wasn't tagged, but this seemed fun!

1. Things you cannot leave the house without:
Oh gosh, theres about three things. But the number 1 thing would be money for sure. I have this weird idea that incase I get stranded and I need to get home by a taxi, I would need money to call for one. Next would be my purse because well, it holds my life in it! Seriously!

2. Favourite brand of Make Up:
I used to not have a favourite, but lately it's been all about MAC. I'm trying to focus on MAC instead of other brands because i'm kind of OCD like that. I love the packaging in my collection to look the same.. weird right?

3. Favourite flower:
I absolutely hate roses. They remind me of old people and funerals. I adore happy flowers, like daisies, but when my dad gets me flowers, he always gets me lillies, so thats a special flower for me :)

4. Favourite clothing store:
I love American Apparel because the clothes are so plain, but they look so chic when you combine them with other pieces of your wardrobe to create your perfect look. I love H&M too, great clothes at great prices. And American Eagle has great jean shorts, I love them!

5. Favourite perfume:
I go through phases. I love my Mrs. Dior Cherie, currently.

6. Heels or Flats:
Flats, sadly. I love heels in the house, but if I wear them out, people would think i'm nuts.

7. Do you make good grades:
Yes, especially in the classes I enjoy! The only class I have ever failed in high school is math. I hate math with a passion. It's annoying! I just can't stand it, seriously. It's so hard for me. I just don't like how it can always be different.

8. Favourite colours:
I love pink, lavender, taupes, beiges.

9. Do you drink energy drinks:
I drink Red Bull on occasion, but I don't make it a habit.

10. Do you drink juice:
Yes! I love juice. Apple juice is great, and i only drink freshly squeezed orange juice. I hate the concentrated taste if it's not freshly squeezed.

11. Do you like swimming:
I love swimming. I feel so peaceful under the water, like you cant hear anything. And when you look up from under the water and you see the sun, is one of the best feelings in the world.

12. Do you eat fries with a fork:
Oddly enough, sometimes I do!

13. Favourite moisturiser:
I love the Nivea one. I don't know the name.

14. Do you want to get married later on in life:
Yes, I do! I am a hopeless romantic and I just want to get swept off my feet.. Im single now though, and i'm not worried, i have time!

15. Do you get mad easily:
It depends with whom. I have no patience for stupidity. AT ALL.

16. Are you into ghost hunting:
But of course~ No, im kidding. Im scared of ghosts.

17. Any phobias -
Apparently, Im scared of 72 common phobias. Im petrified of spiders, all insects, anything unknown, death, and the list goes on!

18. Do you bite your nails:
YES :( Im trying to stop real hard now, since I saw the new China Glaze Collection.

19. Have you ever had a near death experience:
Not really , I was chased by a donkey in Greece?
